Aerobic digestion consists of the biological decomposition of organic material in the presence of oxygen. The oxygen is supplied in bubbles to the slurry basin via micro-perforated membranes.
- Reduction in organic load.
- Reduction in ammoniacal nitrogen (becomes organic and unifies with the microorganisms growing in it).
- Aerobic microorganisms form flocks improve the separation process.
- Reduction in pathogenic microorganisms.
